Mobility Aid Specifications
The Commonwealth Government’s Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (DSAPT) has mandated capacity standards that provide some basic criteria regarding mobility aids used on public transport. However, if any passenger does not meet the criteria, then she or he may not get the right of entry to a wheelchair accessible taxis. The specifications include:
- The burden of both mobility aid and the passenger must be less than 300kg.
- The occupied duration of both the mobility aid and the passenger must not exceed 1300mm, whilst the width should now not exceed 800mm.
- The passenger's head top needs to not exceed 1500mm when sitting on a mobility aid.

- Have a skid-resistant loading stage surface, and
